Handprint On My Heart

Handprint On My Heart is a nonprofit organization established to support children’s strong mental health in order to promote healthy learning in their education. We value children, their views and well-being. We aspire to produce learning tools and educational opportunities that will help all children to thrive in their education and realize their full potential! Children are our future!

Do you know a child with anxiety who needs help to find peace and become more mindful through calming strategies? Do you know of a parent, teacher, counselor, or therapist who is in contact with children struggling with their mental health due to trauma or stresses in their lives? Are you looking for a way to make a needed difference in children’s lives?

We have created this resource site for all adults that help nurture children towards positive, healthy learning experiences. We have a delightful social/emotional learning (SEL) story, IMAGINE: An Inspirational Story of Calming Strategies for Children, that is relatable for children from diverse backgrounds who have a hard time dealing with stresses within their school life, at home, or out in their world. Simple calming strategies, along with a little imagination, helps to bring them comfort and refocus their attention to ultimately enhance their learning experiences.

This teacher-created non-profit is led by Elisa Holton Odegard, a primary teacher in the Twin Cities metro area, Minnesota, U.S.A. Her vision was to create tools that young children and students could relate to through diverse representation and mental health focus in all current and future projects. Elisa’s passion to support her struggling students during trying times is what fueled her devoted work. Her goal is to create more tools and, eventually, use a percentage of proceeds earned to assist families whose children need professional help with their anxieties and mental health.

All proceeds from book sales, as well as all donations from generous supportersenable the Handprint On My Heart organization to help get more books and resources into the hands of children’s advocates. We partner with a growing number of organizations that focus on fostering the mental health of children. These groups include, but are not limited to, schools, hospitals, counseling therapist clinics, and mentoring programs. Our funds will also be used to create future resources developed to fulfill the same mission of accessible supportive services.
